Review and publish

From a submitted contribution to a published post, and everything that can happen in between.

What arrives

When a contributor submits, the service holds their credits, creates a draft in your Ghost site with the package's tag, the byline, the disclosure and the locked fields, and emails your owners and editors. The queue on the site page lists every submission with its state.

The review view

Open a submission to see the service's own rendering of the content, the contributor's comments, and the timeline of everything that happened to it. Two links take you to Ghost: Preview opens Ghost's draft preview (/p/<id>/), which anyone with the link can open, so share it with care; Open in Ghost Admin opens the draft in the editor.

ActionWhoWhat happens
Request a revisionowner, editorThe contributor is told what to change and has a deadline (the site's hold expiry, 14 days by default); their resubmission updates the draft in Ghost
Approveowner, editorThe contributor hears the post is accepted; you publish or schedule it in Ghost when you like
Rejectowner, editorThe credits return to the contributor; you may then delete the draft in Ghost from the same page
Settleowner, financeOnly when a publish needs a decision (below)
Refundowner, financeAfter publication, returns some or all of the credits as a new lot

Editing the draft yourself

You can edit the draft in Ghost Admin at any time. If the contributor then resubmits, the service notices your edit and refuses to overwrite it: the submission shows edited in Ghost and asks you to either keep your Ghost version (the service imports it as the current version) or replace it with the contributor's. Nothing is overwritten silently.

Publishing

Publish or schedule in Ghost as you always do. Ghost tells the service, which checks the post still carries the package's tag and the contributor's byline and then spends the held credits, once. If the tag or the byline is gone, the credits stay held and the submission asks you to settle: spend them anyway, or release them.

If a webhook never arrives (Ghost delivers each once and does not retry), the daily check finds the publish and does the same; the site page's Check now does it on demand.

After publication

Unpublishing or deleting the post in Ghost moves the submission to unpublished or removed and changes no credits. A contributor can ask for a change after publication; you decide. A refund is yours to give.
